MSc in Cyber Security

The MSc offered by Apsley Business School offers two specialist
units that are demanded in today’s business environment.

Information Security Fundamentals which covers what today’s managers and executives need to understand about cyber risks and cyber security.

Governance, Risk Management and Compliance which aims to teach the fundamentals of the OCEG Red Book Standard as a model for achieving effective GRC frameworks and outcomes.

Whole programme: The whole MSc is accredited at 120 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System Credits), which is equivalent to 240 credits at the postgraduate level in the British system. Most students will complete the whole programme in 12 to 24 months. The delivery is either classroom-based, blended or online.

Each unit: Each unit consists of Case Studies, videos, reading, and independent research. You will complete a written assignment for each unit which will be assessed. This is normally around 5000 words. Your Research Dissertation will be no more than 40,000 words. Research: For the MSc your research topic will be detailed and applied for the industry. Most students opt for a technical thesis, examining a technical solution to an upcoming issue in Information Security.

Why

Mark Saunders, our lead course designer, spent many years consulting on Information Security for enterprises of all sizes, explains. “It is clear that Board Members often do not understand the opportunities and risks inherent in managing information. Most management and board level executives are well schooled in the traditional management skills, but few have the skillset and knowledge to truly understand the risks and costs associated with poorly run information security programmes to their organisation. These threats and opportunities will only become more central to the strategic direction of all business in the next 20 years.”
